As students, we tend to categorize things to find the best explanations for what is going on around us and reviews are just one of the many ways we get the information we need. And, over the years, we’ve created many types of reviews – from restaurants and movies to fashion and beauty. But one thing Southeast didn’t see coming was The Bathroom Reviewers. When it comes bathrooms, the five reviewers who are a part of this group know what the ‘flush’ is up.

“We thought it would be content that people would appreciate, whether that’s for entertainment or informational purposes,” *Jacob, a member of the The Bathroom Reviewers said.

The Bathroom Reviewers are a group of students from Southeast who post reviews of bathrooms at school and even outside of school on their Instagram account, @thebathroomreviewers.

“There’s actually work and effort that goes into making a bathroom a decent bathroom. Everyone walks into a bathroom and thinks ‘oh this is nice’ or ‘this is disgusting,’” *Logan, another Bathroom Reviewer said.

The creator of the account came up with the idea to make a review account on the way back from a school field trip, when he was talking about nasty bathrooms with his friends. On Jan. 12, he decided to make a post about Southeast’s own M Hall bathroom, giving it an 8/10 because it was spacious and comfortable, even though one of the wall hooks was broken.

The Bathroom Reviewers are known to write reviews that leave no question unanswered; they want students to be aware of what they can expect when stepping into a bathroom. They’re also not afraid to be honest about the bathrooms they step in to. One bathroom stands out the most, and it’s located in the Music hall at Lefler Middle School. The reviewers described this bathroom as “vulgar” and said it could “induce panic or anxiety attacks.”

“The Lefler bathroom was actually horrifying. Seeing a bug crawl out of the sink is disgusting,” *Logan said.

The Reviewers have gotten a lot of positive feedback from fans asking them to review certain bathrooms, and to do live bathroom reviews.

“We have random people who we don’t know comment or DM us and say ‘You’re not the first bathroom review account’ – well obviously not,” *Max, another reviewer said.

In the future The Reviewers want to expand their bathroom research outside of Southeast and Lincoln.

“The coolest part about being a Bathroom Reviewer for me is knowing that we run an account that people seem to really appreciate,”  *Jacob said.
