Walking through the bustling halls, everyone has their own experiences and activities. One student, particularly packed with a whirlwind of activities, makes her way through classes, knowing her schedule is filled from morning to night. With determination and organization, she navigates through the day, ready to be a leader.
Annise Fatemi (11) is involved in many activities that give her a wide range of skills. These activities include cross-country, tennis, choir, being an ambassador/model for Lincoln Formal, Key Club, Community of Learners Club, Hope Squad, and Committee Head of Student Council. Although it is a lot to handle, Fatemi loves all of these activities and puts forward her best effort towards them, enjoying everything she can get out of it.
“I love meeting new people and it’s such a great way to learn new skills and different things like life lessons,” Fatemi said.
However, managing all of these different activities is not an easy task to do. Since she does so much, it takes a lot of determination and organization to be able to pull through. On top of all the different activities she does, she also takes challenging classes such as Advanced Placement Language and Composition and Differentiated Chemistry. This is why she created a method to organize, making balancing these activities a bit easier, even if it is difficult to continue sometimes.
“I make lots of lists and try to schedule out my day so I’m not as overwhelmed,” Fatemi said. “Sometimes it gets really stressful and I’m like ‘I don’t want to do this in the moment’. But then I think of it as a whole and I like a lot of aspects of it and being in it in general. I wouldn’t want to leave my friends and you know, that’s the fun part of it.”
Regardless of any stress created by them, staying in these activities brings her happiness. By working up to some of her leadership roles, such as in Lincoln Formal and Student Council, the determination she shows is conveyed in everything she does. These leadership roles are important to her, and people that want to be in these positions need certain qualities and attributes to be successful.
“I think you have to try to have a positive attitude for the most part and be very understanding with people. Also, communication is a big one, just being able to communicate to a million different types of people, and listening to everybody’s ideas,” Fatemi said.
Through all eight activities she enjoys, Fatemi shows that with determination, leadership, and organization, living a balanced and ambitious life is possible no matter how busy someone may be.
