Lincoln Southeast golfers attended the LPS Boys Golf Tournament on April 11. Both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams played in small groups with other students based on their position on the depth chart. Junior Ty Crandon played the best for LSE and tied for 10th.
It was a crisp, 45° morning at Holmes Golf Course last Tuesday. Bright and sunny, it was a fantastic day to play golf. At 9 a.m., the LPS Golf Tournament was in full swing, featuring the best golfers from all the LPS high schools.
Ty Crandon is first on Southeast’s Varsity depth chart, meaning he plays against the other best players from the different high schools. At this particular tournament, he was paired with Nate Vontz from Lincoln Southwest and Will Bax from Lincoln High.
“My front nine wasn’t very good at all,” said Crandon. He hit par on the first two holes, Although he played much better towards the end to finished strong.
“My back nine was one of the best rounds I’ve had.”
The other varsity players finished in the mid-80s with Jack Bergmeyer ending with an 83, Jack Bruning with an 84, Zac Cepure with an 84 as well, and Ben Christensen who ended with an 86.
“I always prefer to try to get below 80 since that is what it usually takes to place.”
In addition, Jack Hesson, who plays on the JV team, finished 4th and tied with Ty Crandon with a 79.
This was one of the last remaining tournaments for LSE Boys Golf as they turn their attention to the state tournament which marks the end of their season. The state tournament typically occurs during finals week but in order to make it to state, Lincoln Southeast needs to either place 8th as a team or 10th individually at district tournament.
