Parker Sibley, a sophomore at Southeast, is incredibly passionate about music and thinks that it is very worthwhile. “I love that everyone can do music and you can do it for a long time. There’s people in band who are really serious about it, very committed. Then there’s also people who do it for fun and because their friends do it and that’s fine too. There’s a lot to offer and everyone can do something in music I think.”
He credits his love for music and a lot of other things to his dad, who he also considers his biggest influence. “My dad went to Southeast actually, he pursued music after high school which I plan on doing, he was very involved in music in high school, and everyone says we look a lot alike.”
Sibley is in Jazz 1 and considers working with “a lot of really talented people” and being in “one of the best jazz bands in the country” as being a huge achievement that he’s very proud of.
He doesn’t want to be remembered for music though. He considers his character as a high priority as well. “I want to be remembered not only for being a good musician at Southeast, but a good person as well. People will look up at me and be like ‘Hey, that’s Parker, he’s a good guy.”
