Technical Theater is a class where you learn about everything that happens behind the scenes whether it is for a musical on broadway or it is for filming a movie. Tech Theater continues to improve every year because they continue to advance their skills.
“Tech Theater is a class where we learn how to do the behind the scene work for the plays and musicals,” said junior Cara Lechtenberger. “I joined because I am really interested in producing films in theater. I got involved to try something new.”
Tech Theater meets everyday during 7th period. During class they learn how to make props, and change the stage lighting.
“There really isn’t homework. You can do after school tech but that isn’t a requirement for the class. Tech Theater is not time consuming,” said Lechtenberger. “The hardest thing so far is probably having to read the script and visualize how that would work with our space and resources. I have only done it [tech theater] with this class so far but I like all of it.”
Tech Theater has an important role during productions and performances because they are the ones that make sure that everything is where it needs to be and is ready. Tech Theater help build props, and work to make sure that lighting and sound is right for a specific performance.
