Every year Court Choir sings the national anthem the night of the homecoming game. This year Lincoln Southeast faced Millard South and ended the game with a 27-35 score, resulting in loss by a touchdown. But this isn’t the only thing Court Choir had to look forward to. They sing a variety of songs and perform at different venues throughout the year.
“We sing classical music, contemporary songs, musical theater, more pop tunes in the spring, and Christmas music of course,” said Senior Anna Wade, who has been in choir since her middle school days.
The choir also sings with local middles schools and for nursing homes as well. They attend district music contests in the spring and plan to sing with churches.
“We are excited to sing with Irving Middle school choir on Oct. 10,” said Wade. “We are doing a piece with them called ‘You Will be Found’, from the musical, “Dear Evan Hansen”. That will be really fun because it’s our choir and the Irving kids all together.”
At LSE, there are a number of choir classes to join. But something unique about Court Choir is that it is a traditional concert choir.
“It’s made up of juniors and seniors, and you have to audition to be in it,” said Wade. “It’s really just the people who love to sing and are great at doing it.”
If you’re looking to get involved in the vocal music program here at LSE, contact your counselor or Mrs. Noonan and Mr. Rickert for more information.
