With cross country, track, and swimming taking up most of his time, Dustin Seifert has been unable to participate in the many plays that Southeast High School puts on each year. But this year, he finally had the time he needed to join the One Act, a short 30 minute play that will be competing with other high schools across Nebraska this December.
Seifert is really excited to be in the play his senior year. “I’ve always wanted to try out for [theatre], I just haven’t had time until this year,” said Seifert, “There’s a new theatre director, and I thought it would be fun because I have a lot of friends that do [theatre].” Of the 30 people participating this year, he knows at least 25 of them really well.
Seifert has been in tech theatre before but that’s the closest he’s gotten to an actual play. He said if he was honest, he just hopes to have fun and put on a successful show with the rest of his classmates.
With the rehearsals and the competition, he will have a good memory for his senior year. “I’m excited to have a new experience,” said Seifert. To future drama goers who are thinking about trying out, he says, “Just to do it. It’s fun to try out, [and] the environment is fun.”
