On Nov. 27, the Boys and Girls Varsity Basketball teams faced Norris in an exhibition game to kick off the season.
Senior player and varsity captain Maddie Renn has been playing basketball all four years of high school, three of those years have been on the varsity team. Renn has high expectations for this season and doesn’t want her team to be overlooked.
“I feel like we are really underestimated. We could shock a lot of people but I like this group of girls because we are hard working,” said Renn. “We have done a lot of conditioning, and getting to know each other.”
The girls played first at 5:45. They played hard the whole game and look strong as a team. They won 36-29.
“We worked really hard, have things to improve, and our hustle was really good,” Renn said.
The girl’s condition during practice to build up stamina so that they can up and down the court easier. They also do bonding activities to get to know each other so that they play together as a team.
“There are things to fix but for our first game it was alright and good to come out with a win,” said Renn.
The boys played next at 7:30 and lost to Norris 43-50.
