Severe weather warning: it’s time for national severe weather week

Welcome to spring in Lincoln, Nebraska! You probably know what that means, it’s now severe weather season. Each year we have numerous storms that hit Nebraska, bringing anything from rain to hail, or even tornados.

It’s always good to be prepared and know what you’re going to do in a severe weather situation, which is why the nation will honor Severe Weather Awareness Week (March 26-30). During that week, southeast will be participating in an emergency weather drill on the 26th, which is separate from the statewide tornado practice at 10:00 a.m. on March 28.

If you would like, there’s even a form you can fill out saying whether or not you participated, and how effective the drill was. The form can be for general use or even for a school to fill out, and gives the emergency directors a scope of how prepared the state of Nebraska is.

For those who want even more action, check out the Central Plains Severe Weather Symposium and Family Weatherfest at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on April 7.
