Lincoln Southeast Girls Varsity Soccer took on the Lincoln Southwest Silverhawks in the Heartland Athletic Conference championship game this past weekend on April 7th. LSW came out on top one to zero after a long fight with the Knights.

The Knights’ undefeated record came to an end as they took a close loss after a goal by Southwest toward the end of the first half. LSE now has record of 7-1.

“I think we played a very defensive game, we need to work on the offensive part,” said Junior and left defender, Sidney Doty, who has been on the team all three years.

In order to redeem themselves when they face LSW again, Doty thinks they need to work on finishing their shots at goal. Despite losing to Southwest, the team still has great chemistry according to players on the team.

Overall, Southeast did well at the HAC tournament and hopes to continue growing as a team. Doty is hoping that girls soccer will go on to win all of their upcoming games, to go into districts and hopefully state.
