Boys soccer season ends, but with sure signs of improvement

The boys varsity soccer season officially ended Monday, April 30 when the team took a close loss to Lincoln East. Although they lost three times to East throughout this season, each game came closer and closer. The first time the two teams played, LSE lost 0-8, but the second time it was only 1-4. However, in the recent district game, the match ended as 0-1 with Lincoln East only getting one goal in the second half. Even though it wasn’t a win for our Knights, it was a sure sign of the large improvement that had been made since the beginning of the season.

Senior captain Caleb Goldsmith is proud to have helped lead the team grow throughout the season. ““I think it was pretty awesome seeing some of [the team] improve on their skills and how far they’ve come this season.”

Although this season’s team record wasn’t the greatest compared to past years, it was a bit of a growing season for the team since many of the past varsity players graduated last year. “I think the guys that were on the team did a good job of growing into being on varsity,” Goldsmith says. He believes that the team will definitely improve next year because they will have more experience, even if it’s without him and the other seniors.

Goldsmith plans to attend Concordia University where he will be playing soccer and going into Accounting in the Business Program.
