Humans of LSE: Janet Bacon

“My foster mom brought me out of a really hard place. September 25, 2017, which I have tattooed on me, is the day I came into their house. A week before that I was in the hospital for suicidal thoughts [and] I’m pretty proud that I came from there to where I am now. I was at the point where I didn’t want to live anymore and now I’m living my life to the fullest. I’m so happy to be where I’m at now,” said senior Janet Bacon, a hopeful cosmetologist in the making.

Bacon has had to overcome a lot and credits her foster mom for being a big influence and a bright light in her life. Now that she is in a happy and healthy state of mind, Bacon can focus on the future and hopes to enroll in cosmetology school because it is one of her greatest passions.

“I know that one thing I do want to do is eventually get into cosmetology school,” Bacon said. “I’m trying to aim for fashion.”

Bacon also enjoys making her own clothes. She has cut the bottom of shirts to make them fringed, cut a skirt into a dress, and added a lot of accent pieces into her everyday look. She has made many pieces of clothing, but admits that she hasn’t worn any to school yet because she is too scared.

Bacon plans on finishing the year off strong and is looking forward to graduation day. “I’m not worried,” Bacon said, referencing the future. “I’m going to be good as long as I have a good attitude.”
