“My passion is probably horseback riding, because I’m really dedicated to it,” said sophomore Julie Gifford. What is passion? Passion is, according to Google, “a strong and barely uncontrollable emotion”.

However, passion is not just a definition on a screen, it is part of someone’s heart. It’s what makes someone tick. In the future, Gifford wants to own her own veterinary clinic and be a veterinarian. Gifford says she will work hard and won’t give up. She advises everyone to do the same.

“When something doesn’t go your way, don’t give up on it because it could always get better or the next time it’ll work out.”.

Not only does Gifford love horseback riding, but she also loves softball and track. She says she developed a sense of grit and determination from these sports because athletes don’t always get the amount of playing time they want.

“When you don’t it’s kind of disappointing, but then, you never know. The very next game you’ll get to play the whole [time].”
