On Friday, Jan. 24, the LSE varsity boys basketball team went up against the Fremont Tigers and came out on top with a score of 70-41. Junior Ajantaé Hogan put up the most points for the Knights with 20, followed by Taveon Thompson (11) with 10. With an early lead in the game, the Knights were able to ensure time for more players to go in than usual — leading to a total of 10 players putting points on the board for the night to secure the strong win.

However, one of the usual leading scorers for the Knights was unable to play. Senior Max Renn broke his pinky in the game played on Saturday, Jan. 18, against Papillion-LaVista and currently has to wear a cast on his right hand.

Due to his injury, Renn was forced to stay on the bench and watch as his team took on the Tigers without him.

“It’s kind of hard not to be out there playing with [my teammates],” Renn said.

Renn isn’t sure when he will be able to return to the court — so he will have to continue sitting out for awhile. Despite his inability to participate Friday, Renn was happy to see his teammates take the win against Fremont.

“Everyone played really good and did what they needed to do,” Renn said.

The Knights are looking good this season with a current record of 10-5 and are continuing to build momentum as the season progresses. Make sure to cheer on the varsity boys basketball team as they take on the Lincoln East Spartans for the second time this season in the Prasch Gym at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31.
