Boundless. Usually, before each issue, we, as your Co-Editor-in-Chiefs, come together and brainstorm theme ideas – ones that we believe will be most relevant to our audience, the student body of Lincoln Southeast. However, for this issue, we decided to bring the rest of our staff in on the process, because we wanted to most accurately portray the lives of our students. In February, it seemed like there were no physical, creative, or social constraints that could hold any of our students back, so, naturally, we all developed this theme: boundless. Through February, we worked to bring you stories that would emphasize the originality and ultimately, the boundlessness, of Southeast’s students, ranging from creative expression to speaking multiple languages to our vast political differences.

It’s ironic looking back on it now, isn’t it? To think, that a month ago, we were focusing on celebrating how we could see our peers breaking bonds and living fearlessly with nothing holding them back. However, now, a lot of us, especially the seniors, are feeling precisely the opposite. We, as students used to the endless busyness of high school life, aren’t used to being bound to our homes, to our families, and to only our screens, but here we are.

So, in some ways, everything is different, and we are no longer boundless. But, at the same time, we have been given a boundless opportunity to rest, to tap into our creative sides and to work to connect with each other in a different way. Through this issue, we hope to return to our original theme in the only way we can right now – by bringing you stories of your student body, transporting you to a world that will hopefully return soon. Stay safe.
