After last Thursday’s tough loss to #14 Lincoln East the Lady Knights were determined to get back at it and beat the #4 Westside warriors on Saturday night’s big game.
With six seconds left on the clock, the score was still 42-42. The Knights went into overtime and it was shot after shot with both teams. Westside had a one point advantage at 52-51, but soon after a foul was called on the Knights, Westside shot their free throws with 3.4 seconds on the clock. The ball was taken out and it was Southeast’s ball once again.
Senior Karsin Underwood tried to get a shot from behind the three point line but didn’t make it, shifting the game to 52-53.
The Knights are now starting to get ready for the next month, which will be full of tough matches. Underwood, who has been playing for the varsity team since freshman year, is optimistic about the next couple weeks.
“The rest of January is tough, we play a lot of good teams so it’s important that we get some key wins going into February and set ourselves up for a good district,” said Underwood.
One goal the ladies have is to finish strong and make a run at state! The next home game for the Knights will be Saturday, Jan. 14 at 3:30 in Prasch Gymnasium.
