In an overwhelming win Tuesday night, the LSE Wrestling Team dominated Lincoln Pius X. The duel was played in Prasch Gym in front of a roaring crowd. After the smoked cleared, Preston Rauner landed the last pin for Southeast to make the final score 48 to 27.
Patrick Swift, a senior, had a crucial pin in the second round to push Southeast’s lead by 15 to 0 early on. “I knew that I needed the pin points for the team,” said Swift. “I always play for my teammates and my team.”
Swift gave one of six pins and Pius ended with just two. Both of Pius’s pins were landed in the two highest weight groups, 220 and 285 pounds. “Lots of things went well [last evening]. We had our mistakes but we played well overall,” said Swift.
Last night’s game was a district meet, meaning that those types of duals are important to win in order to have a better chance of going to state. Southeast Varsity Wrestling has their next invitational on January at 2:00 pm at Fairbury High School.
