Halloween is usually celebrated by people dressing up in costumes and hitting the sidewalks to go “trick- or-treating”. But, during the Halloween season, there are more activities one can do then just trick-or-treat. The Clarion Staff would like to recommend some potential spooky activities one can do on October 31st to celebrate:
- “Watch movies and dress up for no reason!!”
- “I love to sit outside with apple cider and enjoy the fall colors with friends!!!!!!!”
- “Dressing up my dog in a sweater then watching spooky movies while eating so much food.“
- “My favorite thing to do is make a spooky Halloween dinner and then invite my friends and other family over. Hanging out with friends is a great way to spend your Halloween just don’t do any candy eating contests.”
- “I love to go to Roca Berry Farm, and scary people in the haunted houses.”
- “Going to Roca and drinking cider with friends. Also going to Arbor Day Farm. Or carving pumpkins and baking the seeds.”
- “Eat candy. Lots of candy.”
Candy isn’t the only treat one can appreciate on Halloween, here are some staff suggestions on different things one could eat instead:
- “I like Pumpkin Cheesecake.”
- “Homemade chocolate chip cookies with a spooky vibe.”
- “Roasted pumpkin seeds? Just put a bunch of seeds in a pan with some oil and whatever seasonings you want. Could be sweet with cinnamon and sugar or savory.”
- “I like those themed holiday sugar cookies. They come ready to bake, though, they’re only good fresh baked.”
- “Brownies are bomb.”
A scary movie marathon is one of the many ways one can get in the Halloween spirit. Here is some that our staff members would recommend:
- “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown because it’s a classic.”
- “Scream because it makes fun of typical horror movie tropes.”
- “Hocus Pocus!! – because it’s the spookiest movie of Halloween.”
- “Rocky Horror Picture Show. It’s a really unique movie and is completely timeless.”
- “Halloweentown because it is a good option for people who normally don’t like super scary movies.”
- “Spooky the Square Pumpkin. It’s great to watch if you have younger siblings that are afraid of scary movies.”
Regardless of the plans you make this Halloween, The Clarion would like to wish you the best and to have great, but safe, spooky time. Happy Halloween!

If you’re in the market for another movie to watch, I’d check out What We Do In the Shadows. It’s basically the Office with vampires.
