The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) hosted a blood drive for the Nebraska Community Blood Bank on Oct. 3rd. More than 80 students and staff members signed up to give blood. A lot of new and returning students and teachers donated.
“I’m kind of nervous, but mostly excited,” said first time donor and FBLA secretary, Ellyn McCarter (12). “I ate a good breakfast, got lots of sleep, and drank water.”
It’s important to eat and drink because of the loss of blood.
“I’m type O-Negative, the most valuable blood type,” said Mr. Segrist after being asked why he donates blood. “I’ve been deemed universal donor blood type.”
“It’s a good cause and I’m really proud of Southeast students,” said senior Emilee Buol, FBLA Member.
One pint saves three lives, and for every pint donated – Nebraska Community Blood Bank gives $10 towards a scholarship for a LSE student. It’s a great cause and saves lives.
