The Lincoln Youth Symphony (LYS) had yet another amazing concert February 15 at 3 pm at Lincoln Northeast High School. The Symphony had their last performance along side the Lincoln Symphony’s Orchestra on January 31 at the Lied Center. Yesterday was the world premiere of Pantheon: Sinfonia for Orchestra, composed by Daniel Baldwin, a native Nebraskan who attended the concert on February 15. At every concert, LYS features a senior who will be graduating from the Orchestra that year. The Senior Soloist for the concert was Mary Dowd, a soprano vocalist, who sang Two arias from The Ballad of Baby Doe- Willow Song and Silver Aria.
If you are a 9-12 grader interested in an unique opportunity to show of your string or wind instrumental talents, the Orchestra hosts auditions at the end of each school year. More information can be found on their website- http://www.lincolnyouthsymphony.org/site/
