Lincoln Southeast Varsity Volleyball started this season with new head coach and LSE alumni Paige Hubl. As the season has progressed, the team has had to figure out how to work together in this new environment, especially after losing a lot of talent from last year’s roster. Their most recent challenge was the LPS classic, which the Knights hosted.

The team got off to a hot start on Friday, Sept. 14 in the preliminary rounds of the tournament. They were able to win all three games against North Platte (2-1), East (2-0), and Norris (2-0).

“We stayed really positive during the first three games,” junior, defensive specialist, Madi Schneider said. After winning in pool play, LSE advanced to the gold bracket on Saturday.

They started Saturday by winning one set against Marian, but ultimately lost the match (1-2). “We learned that we need to work on how to beat the ‘unbeatable’ teams,” said Schneider.

The last game against Class B leaders Elkhorn South ended in a loss (0-2), leaving the Knights with a 3-2 record for the weekend.

Schneider believes that the weekend served as a great experience for the team and an important step of growth. Now, the Knights look ahead to their next game as they take on their school’s rival, Lincoln Southwest.
