Special shout out to Clarion News Team staffers Syann Engelhard, Sophia Merritt and Maggie Stoltenberg for their outstanding work in scholastic journalism last week! At the State Journalism competition on Tuesday, March 23, Syann was recognized as the Runner-Up for the Nebraska Journalist of the Year award and Sophia placed 8th in Newspaper Design. Maggie’s opinion article titled “My generation can end mental health stigma” was selected to be published in the Lincoln Journal Star’s Teen Voices column, which ran on Saturday, March 28. You can read Maggie’s article by clicking here.

The Shield Yearbook staff also participated in State Journalism, with Abby Blankenbiller, the Layout Editor, taking 8th place in Feature Photography, and the whole staff placing 8th and earning a plaque in Yearbook Theme Development.

Congratulations to these hard-working student journalists!
